Rio Celeste Waterfall

Rio Celeste Waterfall, River & Lagoon – Nearby –

Legends say: “When God finished painting the sky, he washed his brushes in the river that now bears the name Rio Celeste.” Actually, the Rio Celeste is named after the color of its water… a bright, jewel-blue, caused by many dissolved, natural minerals coming together, when a creek merges with Rio Celeste.

The park is approximately a 20-minute drive from La Carolina Lodge. Guests needs drive themselves to the park (4×4 Recommended or use the paved route for about 35 minutes). For a better experience you can hire  our resident guide, who go with you in the car to the National Park Station and guide you in the forest. (Recommended for an everlasting memory.)

After approximately 40 minute hike through primary and secondary rainforest with fauna and abundant flora, you will behold the breathtaking 70ft. Rio Celeste Waterfall. The rest of the hike includes a phenomenal lookout point; the area where the river gains its amazing light blue color; as well as to the steaming hot and mineral mud pits; and the unforgettable blue lagoon.
